The brief

The College of Electrical Training (CET) came to us with two key goals. They needed to grow apprenticeship sign-ups and increase course enrolments across their full range of fee-for-service courses. Both were critical to helping meet the demand for skilled electrical workers in Western Australia.

As part of the Electrotechnology Training Institute (ETI), CET’s new website needed to be built within a centralised CMS that could support multiple brands. It also needed to integrate with their student management system to automatically display course data, while allowing the CET team to manage enrolments, student details, and payments through Umbraco.

Our solution

We designed and developed the CET website within ETI’s multisite Umbraco setup. This allows CET to maintain a strong, standalone presence while benefiting from a shared system that simplifies updates and ongoing management.

Course information is pulled into the website via an API from CET’s student management system. This ensures course listings stay accurate and up to date. The enrolment process, including student details and payments, is handled directly in Umbraco. This gives CET full control over how users move from course discovery through to registration.

To help drive both apprenticeship sign-ups and course enrolments, we manage CET’s paid media and organic search activity, reaching future apprentices and licensed electricians with targeted, relevant messaging.

Successful migration and year-on-year organic growth

CET operates in a highly competitive education & training industry, where ranking well for core terms such as pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships and their extensive post-trade course offerings is critical. Their previous site already had strong visibility, so when it came time to launch a new website, a seamless migration was essential to protect those valuable positions.

Through our proven migration process, CET retained its competitive rankings and maintained visibility for its most important search terms. From there, ongoing SEO efforts have continued to build on that foundation, delivering an 18% year-on-year increase in organic traffic and strengthening CET’s presence in an increasingly crowded market.

Maximising paid media ROI in a competitive sector

In an industry as competitive as education & training, paid media needs to work harder to deliver results. For CET, that meant transforming Google Ads from a cost-heavy channel into a true driver of conversions.

By restructuring and optimising their account (refining keyword targeting, tightening budgets, and improving ad relevance) we achieved a 71% reduction in cost per conversion, making every dollar work significantly harder. At the same time, performance surged, with conversions from Google Ads increasing by 293% at an average of ~$5 per conversion.

Since Lemonade took over management of CET’s Google Ads in August 2023, CET has not only been competing effectively in a crowded market but is now using paid media as a sustainable, high-performing growth channel.

Seamless Enrolment Management in Umbraco

Enrolling in a CET course is simple for students and efficient for staff, thanks to a streamlined process built into the Umbraco CMS.

When a student completes their enrolment, payment is handled either through a company purchase order or a secure online gateway. The student receives a confirmation straight away, and the CET team is notified so they can begin processing the enrolment.

Behind the scenes, the enrolment is added automatically to a dedicated Enrolment Management area in Umbraco. Only authorised users with access to this area can view and manage enrolments. The CET team can log in, review the details, and finalise everything from one central place. This setup keeps the process smooth, reduces admin, and helps ensure enrolments are managed quickly and accurately.
