The brief
The Electrotechnology Training Institute (ETI) approached us with a clear goal: to modernise their online presence and streamline the way they delivered training information across multiple brands and divisions. Their existing digital setup was fragmented and difficult to manage, creating inefficiencies for both their internal team and external users.
They needed a flexible, future-ready content management system that could support multiple sites under one platform, each with its own identity but centrally managed. The priority was to make the user experience more intuitive for students and educators, while giving ETI full control over content and structure without heavy reliance on developers.
Our solution
To meet ETI’s goals, we delivered a tailored solution using Umbraco’s multisite capabilities — enabling a single, powerful CMS to manage multiple websites seamlessly. We built and integrated five distinct sites under the one platform: ETI, EGT, CET, ECA WA, and Equip-Safe. Each site maintains its own branding and structure, while benefiting from centralised management.
A major feature of our solution is content cross-pollination. ETI’s team can now create a piece of content — like a news article or event — and effortlessly publish it across any combination of the websites. This not only saves time but ensures consistency across the organisation’s digital presence.
The result is a flexible, scalable platform that empowers the ETI team to manage their content more efficiently, engage their audiences more effectively, and grow their digital ecosystem without added complexity.
How we helped
Smart access control for a multi-brand setup
While all websites are managed within a single Umbraco instance, each brand has unique goals, audiences, and content requirements. To ensure flexibility without compromising control, we implemented a granular user permissions model tailored to each brand’s needs.
This means individual teams only see and access what’s relevant to them. Editors for EGT, for example, can log in and manage their own content without seeing or affecting content on ETI, CET, or the other sites. We also configured section-level permissions within each brand, allowing for further control — whether it's limiting access to news, events, or specific landing pages.
This approach ensures content governance remains tight, reduces the risk of errors, and gives each brand the autonomy to manage its site confidently, all within a unified, secure platform.
